REUSE–A–MUG REUSE.A.MUG Yellow B -name -from Yellow B
-presenting Reuse.A.Mug -an individual UVC dishwasher designed particularly for coffee mugs -the goal of our product is to reduce the number of disposable cups. Coffee drinkers can bring their used mug from home or the office, go to their favorite coffee shop, wash and sterilize their mug with our product, and fill it with a fresh cup of coffee

usage time TOTAL: 20 seconds
Product Features CLEANSE: Pressurized water jet → 50 psi → 2 liters → 10 seconds STERILIZE: UV light radiation → 16,000 µW/cm2 usage time TOTAL: 20 seconds -our device has two main features: *a pressurized water jet at 50 psi to wash off coffee residue for 10 seconds *for another 10 seconds, UV light radiation will sterilize the mug. An NSF study found that an intensity of 16,000 micro Watts per cm^2 is sufficient to kill 99.9% of bacteria -so these two tasks will be completed in a total of 20 seconds

Environmental Impact Direct Reduce number of disposable cups
→ 15 billion disp. cups used per year Indirect Decrease landfill volume → 7.2 x 108 liters created a year Decrease energy consumption from production of disposable cups → 10 kJ for Reuse–A–Mug 550 kJ to manufacture a paper cup The theme of this year’s class is reducing the environmental footprint, and we aim to do so by directly reducing the number of disp cups (say statistic…) and we believe our product can lower this amount, especially within the coffee industry We also hope to decrease the landfill volume and additionally, decrease the amount of energy consumed from the production of disposable cups. (One cycle of Reuse-A-Mug uses 4 kJ, while it takes 550 kJ to manufacture a paper cup

Sketch Model Demonstration
-We created this sketch model, which will demonstrate how pressurized water and UV light, simulated by LEDs, will be used to clean and sterilize a mug BEFORE AFTER
