2. Genocide
Any of the following acts committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group:
Killing members of the group
Causing serious bodily or mental harm to the group
Deliberately inflicting conditions of life designed to bring about the group’s destruction
Imposing measures to prevent births within the group
Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group

3. Classification & Grouping
People are divided into "us and them".
Haters feel required to have others hate as they do.
Groups provide the anonymity in which to express hate without being held responsible.

4. Symbolization & Definition
When combined with hatred, symbols may be forced upon unwilling members of outcast groups.
Hate groups create symbols designed to enhance the members' status and degrade the object of their hate.

5. Dehumanization & Disparaging
One group denies the humanity of the other group.
Members of it are equated with animals, vermin, insects or diseases.
By verbally degrading the object of their hate, haters try to improve their own self-image and group status.

6. Organization & Training
Genocide is always an organized effort.
Special army units or citizen militias are trained and armed to carry out violence.

7. Polarization & Taunting
Hate groups broadcast polarizing propaganda.
“If you’re not with us, you’re against us” is a common theme.
Haters increase hate speech and violence by using taunts and offensive gestures.

8. Preparation & Attacks without weapons
Victims are identified and separated out because of their ethnic or religious identity.
This stage is critical because it separates vocally abusive haters from physically abusive ones.

9. Extermination & Attacks with weapons
It is "extermination" to the killers because they do not believe their victims to be fully human.

10. Denial The perpetrators deny that they committed any crimes.
“I was only doing what I was ordered to do” is often used as an excuse.
The ultimate destiny of hate is the physical and psychological destruction of both the hater and the hated.
