1 Classroom Rules and Procedures
The following discipline procedures will be used in class!

2 Classroom Expectations
Listen to instructions. Enter and exit prepared (with a writing utensil, your Interactive Science Notebook, and your agenda). Always try your best. Respect yourself and others. NO EXCUSES!

3 Classroom Rules & Expectations:
1.     Follow the teacher’s directions. 2.     Arrive on time to class with all required materials. 3.     Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak. 4.     Speak nicely to classmates, teachers, and staff. 5.     Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. 6.     Use materials appropriately. 7.     Keep your cell phone OFF and AWAY during school hours. 8.     No chewing gum.

4 Disciplinary Procedures
1st offense- Warning 2nd offense- Point Deductions 3rd offense- Parent contact 4th offense- Referral to the office This procedure may be altered according to the severity of the offense!!!!

5 Incentives 1. Praise 2. Parent contact
3. Tickets for the Friday prize drawing 4. Homework passes

7 Being Prepared and Writing Utensils
Students may use a pencil or a pen (blue or black ink) Blue or black ink should be used for formal writing assignments. Typed or computer generated work will be accepted with prior approval of the teacher. Assignments written in markers or crayons will not be graded. Being Prepared Bring required materials each day. (3-ring binder, loose leaf paper, pen or pencil, and agenda).

8 Entering and Exiting Class
Entering Class Line up at the door. After entering the room, students may not leave without permission. Students may not leave books and materials outside the classroom for any reason. Upon entering, students should go to their assigned seats and prepare for class by copying down any homework and placing your agenda opened to the point sheet on the corner of your desk. Begin working on the bellringer. If there are lab supplies already on the desks, DO NOT touch them until directed to do so. Exiting Class The teacher will dismiss the class Not The Bell. Exit tickets will be used to assess your learning for the day and must be turned in before leaving the room. Do not pack books to exit class until instructed to do so by the teacher. Students are responsible for cleaning the area around their desks before leaving the room.

9 Maintaining Your Notebook
Keep the following in your notebook: Table of contents, class rules, class procedures, class notes, vocabulary assignments All materials must be dated and in the right order. Notebooks will be checked periodically.

10 Papers Paper usage Writing on the back of homework and class work is permitted and encouraged. Do not write on final drafts. Do not write on the bottom line of the paper, go to next page. Heading Papers All papers must be labeled with your name (first and last), date, period, and homeroom teacher. Do not fold papers!!! Any heading lacking your first and last name is deducted 5 points each. No date is deducted 5 points. No period and homeroom label is also deducted 5 points for a total of 20 points. Passing in papers Each student should place their paper on top of the paper beside you and pass them to the teacher or place in the bin as directed by the teacher.

11 Leaving the Classroom and Getting Teacher’s Attention
Students are expected to come to class prepared, which includes getting water and going to the bathroom between classes. If you need to leave the room during class, you will be required to use one of your 4 hall passes. Students that have not used any hall passes during the quarter will be rewarded. If you run out of passes, you will be deducted 2 points per visit. When asking to leave the room, wait for an appropriate time to raise your hand and ask. It is inappropriate to get out of your seat and approach me to ask a question. You must raise your hand and wait patiently. Students are required to sign out with date and time before leaving the room.

12 Pencil Sharpening and Trash
Students are to sharpen pencils upon entering the classroom. If your lead breaks during class and if your have no other writing utensil, raise your hand and wait for further instructions. IT IS NEVER OK TO GET UP TO SHARPEN A PENCIL DURING INSTRUCTION! Trash Trash will be thrown away when your are dismissed from class. Keep it at your desk until you are dismissed. Pick up all paper around your desk before leaving the room.
