Differentiated instruction to meet students’ needs in their literacy skills. Each teacher will take a skill and students are divided based on their needs.

8. TRC- what type of reading is a TRC?
TRC benchmarking is a COLD read.
A cold read is defined as reading a text with no rehearsal, practice, or study in advance.

9. New Changes with Text and Questions
Texts:
All texts for TRC benchmark testing are new this year.
new non-fiction and new fiction books.
Questions are aligned to new standards for each grade level
Varying levels of difficulty (handout provided)
Teachers show text examples and question stems (possibly use the F&P continuum as a resource).

10. New norms... This is a norming year for the state of NC
What does this mean?
New grade level performance expectations for MOY and EOY
It may appear to be a lower reported letter at the BOY
The texts and questions are aligned to standards
New standards for ELA causes for comprehension questions to be aligned to the standards
