1 CHANGE IN AMIR Emma Cornett

2 the first time we see Amir start to change
the first time we see Amir change is when Rahim Khan phones Amir and asks him to meet him in Pakistan. He says to Amir “there is a way to be good again” we see this towards the end of chapter 14 and when Amir agrees to go to Pakistan we see him take the first step to changing.

3 Amir knowing he has to get Sorab himself
during chapter 17 Rahim Khan tell Amir the story about Hassan and how Sohrab was put into an orphanage when Hassan was killed. Amir says that he couldn't go back to kabul and how he would pay someone else to go. Rahim Khan tells Amir that it's not about the money and he knows why he must go. Rahim Khan tells Amir how baba once said a man who can't stand up for himself can't stand up for anything.

4 Hassan's death Amir finding out about the death of Hassan also makes a turning point in Amir's quest to redemption. he knows that now not only did he lose his best friend but he now cannot apologize and the only way to change this is to go to Kabul and save Sohrab. chapter 17

5 getting Sohrab Amir knows that if he goes to Kabul and gets Sohrab that he will become the man Baba always wanted him to be and that he can finally atone for the ways he failed Hassan as a friend. chapter 17 and 18

6 Amir getting hurt and in hospital
in chapter 22 Amir fought with Assef and Amir was badly hurt. Amir says that “my body was broken… but i felt healed.” he also said that “for the first time since the winter of 1975, i felt at peace” fighting with Assef for Sohrab's safety and getting beaten made him release the emotional tension and when he felt physical pain he feels better. This also shows that Amir has now completed his quest of redemption to change and be good again.
