1st Amendment 18 Source: 2nd Amendment Source: Criminal Law Protections Source: The 2nd Amendment protects the right to bear arms and is often debated. The right to protest is a basic right of freedom. The right to a fair trial ha s many protections found in the 5th and 6th Amendments. Signing a petition is one way of letting government officials know your opinions. Sometimes the Court System tries to determine what rights we are allowed. The 6th Amendment grants Americans the right to confront your accusers in court. The 1st Amendment protects Five basic rights.

Voting Rights Amendments
Civil War Amendments 19 Source: 18th and 21st Amendments Source: Voting Rights Amendments Source: The 26th Amendment, which lowered the voting age to 18, was inspired by the young soldiers in Vietnam who could not vote. The 15th Amendment, passed after the Civil War, gave black men the right to vote. After FDR was elected four times, the 22nd Amendment limited Presidents to two terms. --- The 18th Amendment created the era of Prohibition when alcohol was illegal. The 18th was later repealed by the 21st Amendment. The 14th Amendment passed after the Civil War guarantees due process of the law for all citizens. The 19th Amendment passed in 1920 gave women the right to vote. The 3th Amendment banned the practice of slavery.

Gun control laws always bring out varied opinions.
20 Source: Abortion Source: Death Penalty Source: The Freedom of Speech protects the right to voice one’s opinions----even when those opinions are not popular. When people feel that their rights have be violated, they often take those issues to court. This pro-gun ad focuses on the need for the right to bear arms in a free society as compared to a authoritarian government. The establishment portion of the 1st Amendment is sometimes controversial. The Death Penalty -- does it violates the 8th Amendment ban on cruel or unusual punishments? The right to privacy has been interpreted by the Courts to allow abortions. Gun control laws always bring out varied opinions.
