Cars became part of American life. More money and less work hours = leisure time and higher standard of living. 12 hour work day  8 hour work day 6 day work week  5 day week

3 New Industries and Consumer Society
Automobiles (Ford, Chrysler, GM) Toiletries and Beauty products Home appliances and Cleaning supplies Airline industry Radio (NBC, CBS) Advertising Entertainment Managerial Revolution in Corporate America

4 Farmers in Crisis Farmers are often the last to prosper, first to suffer in economy Earned less that 1/3 of American workers Produced more, thanks to technology in agriculture, but prices fell. Placed themselves in debt to buy land and equipment, but could not seel surpluses after the war.

5 Consumerism in America
Create a collage of all the new industries and consumer products that changed the American economy in the 1920s. Magazine cut-outs, illustrations, and print-outs. Create categories (i.e. travel, auto, beauty, fitness, arts and entertainment)
