2 Why the R.O.A.R. program was created?
To foster a love of reading for students Form positive relationships in the classroom To foster an environment for students to learn independently Make students feel important and be able to voice their ideas Create experiences that motivate and inspire students to become life-long readers and learners.

3 Goals of R.O.A.R. Students will independently read a minimum of 25 books during the school year. Students will develop a love of reading while improving their reading skills. Students will engage in reading conversations and share good books with each other. Students will enjoy their literacy class because they choose what they read and learn about.

4 R.O.A.R. Classroom Non-negotiables
Students will read a minimum of 25 books during the school year. Students will complete one book response activity each quarter. Book talks, blog posts and other shorter activities will happen more often. Students will keep a literacy folder to keep track of their own reading and reflections on what they have read.

5 What will I need for R.O.A.R.?
All students will be asked to have a book to start reading by the first Monday of the school year (August 6th). Students need to use actual books or tablets-NO PHONES. A 3-prong folder to keep R.O.A.R. activities and reflections

6 R.O.A.R. Wish List Please help us continue to grow our hallway libraries by donating a gently used book to your R.O.A.R. teacher.
