What is ISO 14000? ISO is a series of environmental Management standards The standards were designed to help companies - Develop effective effective environmental management systems In today’s world, you must be environmentally aware

- Standards were created by the International Organization for Standardization
- The U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) developed the U.S. Position on the ISO documents How Standard came to be--Part maker in Europe wanted to sell bolts to OEM--Bolts were more expensive due to environmental concerns

ISO A specification standard that cites requirements for implementing and maintaining EMS. Organizations become registered to this standard. ISO Guidance document

Links between ISO 9000 and ISO 14000
Both are voluntary standards. Both are management standards- do not establish required performance levels. Both are designed for internal use- registration requires a third-party audit. Both are generic in nature so that they can be applied across the board to organizations of all types and sizes.
