5/5 functional questions 3/5 unfamiliar questions Able to engage in conversation Navigated at a steady rate Navigate through layers and nesting with minimal guidance Enjoyed and was motivated to use it!
5
Pathfinder Able to navigate the homepage Able to have conversation
Sequenced symbols to formulate simple phrases with minimal prompting. Initially overwhelmed by the amount of keys and symbols.
6
Summary Judith appeared to be able to navigate both devices fairly well. Appeared more comfortable with the dynavox (due to familiarity). Dynavox contains a nested features and layering, which may be difficult to navigate due to her aphasia. Dynavox voice output is synthesized.
7
Summary continued Willing to try the additional features Pathfinder
Pathfinder has a static keyboard reducing the nested features. Pathfinder has a voice record feature Willing to continue to learn the features of both devices. Motivated to find a mode to communicate more effectively.
8
Recommendations Judith appears to be a good candidate for utilization of an AAC device that could provide voice output. Training with Pathfinder during future therapy The most beneficial mode of communication (Dynavox or Pathfinder) should be determined after a trial period. Once familiar with a communication mode, it is recommended to participate in a communication dyad with E to encourage naturalistic expansion of use.
