Writing review When writing, giving text examples are very important.
When you use examples taken directly from the text, this shows that you understand what you are reading and can apply your new knowledge to form a new opinion. You should aim to include at least three pieces of text evidence. So what counts as text evidence? Quotations from a text of course!
14
Quotation marks Use quotation marks when you want to use something in your writing exactly how it was written in the book. For example, if Roger says, “You gonna take me to jail?” you can use that in your writing as long as you use quotation marks. It is then call a quote. Roger showed fear when he asked Mrs. Jones, “you gonna take me to jail?”
15
You can also paraphrase your writing.
You paraphrase by putting what you learned into your own words. For example: Roger was so afraid of going to jail that he asked Mrs. Rogers if she was planning on turning him in.

practice Find something in the book that Mrs. Jones said, write it out using quotation marks.
