Curly’s wife is portrayed as being both naive and sexual in the novella OMAM.
‘girl’ ‘full’ ‘rouged’ are used in juxtaposition to describe Curly’s Wife.
Use of the noun ‘girl’ suggests youth and naivety. However ‘full’ and ‘rouged’ have sexual connotations.
Curly’s wife can therefore seen as a woman who, knowing her limitations, uses her sexuality to attract attention.
Because of her dress she is continually called a ‘tart’, ‘jail-bait’ and a ‘bitch’ by the male characters.
