What is Subjunctive Mood?
Definition: Expresses a feeling or mood that is doubtful or not true. Can be found in clauses that begin with the word if. Example: “If I were your boyfriend, I’d never let you go.” (Justin Bieber). If I were king, elephant toes would be banned.
3
Notes: Often these subjunctive mood sentences start with the word “if” but it can start like every other sentence. It is a verb that expresses: doubt, a wish, request, demand, or proposal.
