Annotate: adding notes to a text or diagram, giving an explanation or comment
How:
Identify difficult vocabulary
Chunk the reading
Write notes on the side
Can be a summary of the chunk
Should capture main idea of the chunk
Ask questions that help you think deeper
Make connections to things discussed in class or other knowledge
Can be a sentence or bullet points

POWER VERBS

After you’ve read and annotated a document you are ready to write an objective summary
Objective Summary: A summary that relies solely on the text and is not a reflection of your opinion of that text.

Should have main idea of the document as a whole
A sentence for each chunk (use power verbs)
Add transitions to help your paragraph flow
