Graphic representation of multivariable linear regression model controlling for esophagitis status, presence of hiatal hernia, age, and sex in patients with extraesophageal symptoms. There is an S-shaped relationship between increasing BMI and the percentage of time the pH was less than 4. The largest increase in acid exposure occurred between a BMI of 25 to 30 independent of esophagitis.
