Our memories play an important role in helping us interpret new stimuli and allowing us to perceive certain aspects of our world as unchanging

4 Shape Constancy Ability to perceive an object as having a constant shape regardless of how it appears to change

5 Brightness Constancy Perceiving the brightness of an object at a constant level even though its surroundings may change
