2 Structure of the Body Paragraph
Topic sentence *1 sentence Lead-in and evidence (quote) * 2-3 sentences Analysis *2-3+ sentences Lead-in and evidence (quote) *2-3 sentences Concluding sentence *1 sentence

3 Lead In A sentence that introduces your evidence. It explains ----very briefly---what is happening when the evidence occurs. Think about giving your audience a reminder of what’s going on when that evidence occurs

4 Evidence For this essay, evidence must be text quoted from the novel. This can be: Narration Dialogue **Anything on the page **Make sure to include a citation. That is the page number in parentheses at the end of the quote. Ex/ “Cassie ran to meet her brothers”(123).

5 Analysis After every piece of evidence you must explain why that particular piece of evidence supports your claim. Think about the claim you made in the topic sentence. Think about the overall claim you made in your thesis. Remember to avoid : I think, In my opinion, I am going to show… etc…

6 Concluding Sentence This is the last sentence and wraps up your paragraph. Strategies: What is the concluding thought you want the reader to take away? Look back at your topic sentence claim and echo the point in your last sentence.
