How to Report state test performance
AIR reports scores to Scholarship Office The school does not have to report these scores unless there is a error in the score file. The Scholarship Office will flag students with issues.

Parents must be notified
Parents Must Be Notified of Reading Deficiency & Possible Retention in Grade 3 Parents of K-3 students determined to be NOT ON TRACK must be notified in writing of their child’s reading status, their child’s need for intensive reading intervention, and the possibility of retention at grade 3. For grade 3 students who have not earned a promotion score by January - Parents must be informed in writing that the retention decision may have to be made after the end of the school year when state spring results arrive or even later in the summer if the student can not be promoted with the state spring scores do arrive.

Exempt students Some students can be exempt from participation.
Some students can be exempt ONLY from retention.

All students are expected to be reading at grade level when entering grade 4. However, some students are . . . Exempt from TGRG Participation Non-state scholarship students All non-state scholarship students State scholarship students Autism state scholarship students Jon Peterson state scholarship students Ed Choice alternate assessment state scholarship students Ed Choice ISP students with a significant cognitive disability whose ISP team exempts from participation

Exempt students from all TGRG
Even though non-state scholarship students should be served and monitored using the same guidelines as scholarship students they are not governed by the legislation and are not required to earn a promotion score in grade 3.

Exempt students Only from retention
Grade 3 Ed Choice ISP Students whose ISP team documents the rationale for the retention exemption in the ISP. Grade 3 Ed Choice EL Students who have been in a US school for less than 3 school years and who have had less than 3 full years of instruction in an English as a Second Language Program are exempt from the TGRG retention requirement Grade 3 Ed Choice Retained Students who have already been retained at least 1 school year and have received 2 years of intensive reading intervention are exempt from the TGRG retention requirement.

Exemption from state testing
Exemption from TGRG participation or retention is NOT the same as an exemption from regular state testing. The only students exempt from state testing are autism state scholarship students.
