2018 WB2 True/False
2
WB2 can be done residential
True False Ish… You can do In person training in support of of WB2, but you can NOT do WB2 in a 2 weekend course WB2 is competency and experience based, so the old 2 weekend format doesn’t really apply to the new WB2 requirements. For example: You cannot gain the experience of having taken your Youth camping in all 4 seasons by participating in a two weekend workshop. That being said, you can of course have workshops in support of WB2 to help train skills to practice after the workshop. The council is looking to run several of these workshops to help Scouters develop these skills.

Scouters can’t take WB2 until they have 1 year experience
True False One doesn’t “take” WB2, one Works on and completes WB2 Also, all experience, even from outside of Scouting can be applied. Trick Question! For example, if Joe is an avid backpacker before he join Scouts, he’s already going to have some of the WB2 competencies before he’s even active.

Anyone can be your WB2 Support Scouter
True False True* Anyone who’s active with CPWB1 can be your WB2 Support Scouter! Anyone can be your mentor. Say Sedrick and Philip went through scouts together in the 80s all the way to Venturers. They left for post secondary and now are Joining as Scouters for their kids in their hometown of Upper Rubber Boot. It’s a new group on the outskirts of their Area, so they can be eachother’s peer support for working on their WB2. The idea is to have a WB2 Support Scouter who checks in with you through the process of completing your WB2, and can connect you with various resource people to help you gain the necessary competency. Your go-to camping resource person may be someone different than your Fundraising resource person.
