SPACE PROGRAMME 2009 An insight into Student All Round Development at SHPS
2
AIM To develop and maximise the potential of students in St. Hilda’s Primary School in the domains of service, physical fitness, aesthetics, character and exploration (SPACE) so that they may be exceptional individuals who can contribute effectively to the nation and the world.
3
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME The SPACE Programme serves to encourage students between the ages of 9 and 12 years to develop and promote our school values of serve humbly, lead wisely, live responsibly, love sincerely and learn continuously. The SPACE Programme is a do-it-yourself kit for students to tailor the programme to suit their own needs, interests and level of commitment. The activities that they have chosen to be committed to can be either organised by the school or any established external organisations.
4
LEVELS OF AWARD There are three levels of the Award in which students can work towards - Bronze, Silver and Gold, with each successive level requiring a greater level of commitment and determination. Minimum Age for each level of award: Bronze 9 years old; Silver 10 years old; Gold 11 years old Students do not have to start at the Bronze level if they are old enough to begin directly at higher levels.
5
Monitoring of achievements
Within each level, students are required to complete various activities that fall within the domains of service, physical fitness, aesthetics, character and exploration. Each activity should be endorsed by a regulating body, certified coach or official to ensure activities are not adhoc. Eg. Physical skills improvement should endorsed be the coach.
