2 Predilection – a preconceived liking, a preference

3 Culpability – liability to blame
​ity words are nouns His culpability was evident when during the interview he denied knowing her, even though a witness saw them together. 

4 Acrimony – harshness, sharpness in words
​ony words are nouns  The acrimony between the two students was foreseen because they have been arguing for days. 

5 Inadvertent – accidental, unintentional
​The inadvertent gesture was seen as hurtful, even though I was just waving at my friend. 

6 Mitigate – to make milder or less severe
​The lawyers attempted to mitigate the problems between two sides by putting them into separate rooms. 

7 Lethargic (adj) – tired, weak
​After receiving the pain medicine, the patient went into a lethargic state. 

8 Stoic (adj) –endure pain or hardship without showing their feelings or complaining, brave
​​Through all the criticism John remained stoic and didn't let the haters get to him. 

9 Cryptic (adj) – mysterious, puzzling
​John's cryptic look made me wonder what he was up to when he left the house 

10 Laud (v)– to praise ​applaud- to give lauds to someone
The company decided to laud Jack’s outstanding contributions to the firm.

11 Respite (n) – a rest, a pause, a break
​I had to take a respite from work because of all the stress
