Notes 5 Part 2
2
Perspective- Creating the illusion of 3 dimensions on a flat surface.
3
Artists use different “tricks” to create the illusion of depth in their
2 dimensional art work.
4
One way is atmospheric perspective
Particles in the air scatter the light which changes how things appear. When things are in the distance, they are less clear, colors not as vibrant, and objects appear more blue. The further away the greater the effect because there is more air between you and the object.
5
Another way is to overlap.
Things that are further away are hidden behind the things that are closer to us.
6
Less Detail- as things get further away, we are able to see less and less detail.
7
Size- things that are further away appear smaller.
8
Placement- placing things higher on the surface makes them appear further away.
9
Linear Perspective- drawing things in 1, 2, or 3 point perspective
gives the feeling of depth
14
Color Wheel- The spectrum bent in a circle
15
Color Scheme- An organized plan for using color
16
Complimentary colors Colors that are across from each other
on the color wheel.
17
Analogous Color Scheme-
Using 3-4 colors that are next to each other on the color wheel
