Definition OF VMA, VOS A virtual machine application is an application that simulates one or more virtual operating systems. A virtual operating system is an OS that has been “installed” on a virtual machine application. A virtual operating system is not a dual boot. A user has the same experience using a virtual OS as he has using a host OS. 1/17/2019 9
10
Hierarchy Host operating system – e.g. Windows 10
Virtual machine application – e.g. VMWare Virtual OS – e.g. Windows XP, Linux 1/17/2019 10
11
Reasons To Use A Virtual OS
Require different development environment. Windows 10, Windows XP, Ubuntu Run application available on different OS. Windows 7 backup Customize computing environment. Spouse, children, guest Isolate computing. Unsecure Internet access Test new OS. 1/17/2019 11
12
Requirements Licensed virtual machine application
Licensed OS installation media Sufficient CPU Sufficient memory Sufficient disk space 1/17/2019 12
