Fig 1 A, IL levels at baseline (T0) and after treatment with intralesional photodynamic therapy (I-PDT) (T2). The Wilcoxon test was used for statistical analysis, and whiskers indicated standard deviation. Mean cytokine levels of IL-6, IL-1, and IL-8 were significantly increased after injection with photosensitizer and irradiation (T2) in comparison with before treatment. After I-PDT, IL-6 and IL-8 levels increased in 17 of 18 patients and IL-1β in 16 of 18 patients. Mean values of IL-6, IL-1β, and IL-8 were significantly higher after I-PDT (P < .0001, P = .0046, and P < .0001, respectively). B, IL level by location (nose, lip, and check) and number of sessions needed to achieve complete tumor clearance. P values (Wilcoxon) for the differences in the IL-6, IL-8, and IL-1ß levels in paired samples from the nose for the T1 versus T0 time points were 0.043, 0.028, and 0.046, respectively, and for the T2 versus T0 time points 0.01, 0.07, and 0.028, respectively. P values were >0.05 for lip and check samples. IL, Interleukin. Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology , DOI: ( /j.jaad ) Copyright © 2018 American Academy of Dermatology, Inc.
