Later quill pens were invented. Quills are made from birds’ feathers. The tip of the quill was cut at an angle to make a point to write with. Then a slit was cut in the pointed end so that the ink would flow more easily.

3. The fountain pens that we know today weren’t invented until the 1880s when Victoria was Queen.
