Public Policy! What is it?
A decision or action of government that addressed problems and issues Some policies are passed into laws, and some policies are found in rules and regulations

Who affects public policy?

Fact: About 5,000 bills are introduced in Congress every year, but only about 150 are signed into law. 1. Explain why so few bills become law. 2. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? 3. Should the legislative process in Congress be reformed? If yes, what changes would you recommend? If not, why not?

How a bill becomes a law! House of representatives

Then! If both houses pass the bill
Conference committee to work out the differences

Then it goes to the executive branch!
The president can veto the bill Either veto or pocket veto OR! It can be signed into law Or overridden with 2/3rds vote
