Action: extends knee, stabilizes patella Origin: at the top of the femur Insertion: at the bottom of the femur, over patella

Vastus Intermedius (Quadriceps)
Action: Extends knee Origin: at the top of the femur bone Insertion: at the bottom of the femur bone, past the patella

Vastus Lateralis (Quadriceps)
Action: extends knee Origin: at the top of the femur bone Insertion: at the bottom of the femur bone, past the patella

Rectus Femoris (Quadriceps)
Action: extends leg at knee, flexes thigh at hip Origin: attached to the illium Insertion: at the bottom of the femur bone, past the patella

Sartorius Action: flexes thigh on hip Origin: ilium
Insertion: at the top of the tibia bone

Semitendinosus (Hamstrings)
Action: flexes and medially rotates knee, extends hip Origin: ischial tuberosity Insertion: posterior side of tibia

Semimembranosus (Hamstrings)
Action: flexes and medially rotates knee, extends hip Origin: ischial tuberosity Insertion: posterior side of tibia

Biceps Femoris (Hamstrings)
Action: flexes and laterally rotates knee, long head extends hip Origin: ischial tuberosity Insertion: head of fibula and lateral condyle of tibia
