3. Then fill-in to make the subject seem more “real.”

5. But sometimes, what the subject really IS becomes unclear.
So we make up some art terms: Positive Space: is the subject matter. Negative Space: is everything else—empty.

7. Sometimes the Positive Space is made by the drawing tool.

8. Sometimes Positive Space is made by leaving the space EMPTY.
