Explain what the session will be about: Understanding their role, challenges they may face, how to be a great secretary.
Ask each member of the room to introsuce themselves and what group they are from if time. If not get a few people from different areas to shout out what they do. E.g 2-3 from sport, 2-3 from societies

Responsible for managing lists of all members and the accounts/lists
Take minutes from all committee meetings and the Society
Annual General Meeting
Be Responsible for Room Bookings
Submit External Guest requests
Organise transport to events
Keep the information on the DSU Website up to date.
Run the Social Media Accounts – depending on your committee

5. Do a call and response about how to keep students data safe.
Ask people where they think they could be breaking the law

Store members data on your own devices
Take signups that aren’t online
Give out any members personal details
Share any personal details with others – this includes making WhatsApp groups without people’s permission to be added in.
Store members data longer than you need it
Can do
Message members through the website
Sign ups online (paid and free interested in lists)
Ensure that only committee members can access data
If you set up any groups with personal data on obtain written permission
Run through and answer what you can do.

7. Using the DSU Website
Show messaging, members, events, ,products, edit details, website pages. Challenge students to leave session and update their pages.

8. Activity,
With in their groups take time to develop 3 goals for the year ahead.
Use the next slide of gold silver and bronze to help focus what they want to achieve in a priority.
