15 IT must view its job as addressing the business problems associated with people management . . .
How do I ensure that workers are being productive? How can I keep a finger on the pulse of the workforce without face-to-face meetings? How do I make sure workers understand and can execute their tasks? How do I coach and train mobile and remote workers?

Will workers have access to the tools they need to do their jobs? Do workers have the training to use these tools? Will workers actually use the tools provided in productive ways? How should we respond to demands to support personal devices?

How do we create collaborative workspaces when employees are in the office? How can we create interactive meetings between employees and partners at different work sites? How can we manage the technology and tools employees have available to them in their home offices?

Accenture funneled real estate savings into technology and people. Accenture’s IT has used this money to . . . . . . keep employees connected to management. . . . provide employees frictionless access to business applications. . . . create technologically advanced physical workspaces for in-office collaboration.

21 So how do you follow suit?
Interview business leaders and line managers about mobile work business issues. Survey the workforce about their work habits and technology use. Help create or lobby to join your organization’s mobile work steering committee. Align technology vendor selection to the unique mobile and remote needs of your business.
