Many successes for the ‘School’ (11 – 16 and Sixth Form) recently recognised in a very positive Ofsted inspection (3 March 2016)
Concluded a wonderful year ( ) celebrating 75 years of IVC
Our Sports Centre continues to flourish and be great success

4. Developing IVC We became a Foundation School in 2010
We became an Academy in (independent state-funded school)
Since May 2015, the Governmental focus has been on:
More/all schools becoming Academies
Academies to be formed into Multi- Academy Trusts

5. Multi-Academy Trust (MAT)?
Where a single Trust oversees/is responsible for more than one Academy
The Academies shared the Trust’s vision/ethos and (often) practices
The composition and shape of the MAT can be individually determined
There are some prescriptions…

6. Why a MAT for Impington?
Opportunity to lead the development of itself and other (like-minded) schools
Build on the excellence established at the College
Opportunities to share and collaborate (practice and resources)
Economies of scale

7. Defining our MAT We have a working name – iMAT
The ‘i’ does not mean Impington – it stands for inclusive, international, innovative, inspirational, individual…
Its ethos and values will be important (inclusive, excellence, local community, assumed autonomy)
Ten members of the current Governing Body will become the ‘founding Members’ of the MAT
Four will become the Trustees, with a further two externally appointed
There will be a Local Governing Body advising and holding the College to account and representing the views of the stakeholders, including wider community

8. What options/opportunities exist?
Establish a Free School (simply a new Academy)
Sponsor schools that require sponsorship
Invite partners (perhaps smaller bodies) who recognise the benefits of formal collaboration

9. How are things developing?
I became Executive Principal and Ryan Kelsall is now Principal
We are redrawing our Articles of Association and we will consulting
We are submitting an application for a Special Free School (for autism)
We are discussing with other schools about joining with IVC in iMAT
