1 Welcome! PreK-3 Principal Leadership Series
Ensuring High-Quality Learning Environments and Teaching Session Two, September 27, 2016 “Leading for educational excellence and equity. Every day for every one.”

2 Introduction to Session 2
Bondo and Jessica Jessica: Distractions happen when leading-there is no prevention of minor or major hiccups in our journey.  However we can control the time/resources loss in re calibrating our GPS to get us back on course.   Leading today in PreK-3 also inundates us with so many things:  Innovation, Back to Basics, Mediation, Flexible Seating, Recess, Coding, STEM/STEAM, PLC's, PBIS, RtI...and so much more.  All of these concepts may/or may not be part of your school vision but until you have a clear end in mind all of the above can take you off course and steer you away from what is best for your students. Dr. Holland today will immerse us with practical knowledge surrounding our abilities to ensure we are providing effective instruction for ALL students EVERYDAY.  This assurance comes with research and leaders like us who have used these competences to build a system that prevents students from falling behind by building solid foundational skills delivered in a developmentally appropriate manner.   One word you will here today is Intentional.  When we do anything with a clear end in mind the odds of success significantly raise as compared to throwing ideas/strategies at a problem and crossing our fingers that one will be the trick.    Today we will have time to work with each other to create solid pathways towards all students' success so no matter the road block ahead we can regain our course quickly with a clear end in mind. education.state.mn.us

3 Agenda Agenda for this session includes a work time at the beginning. There will also be more group discussion, compared to first session. education.state.mn.us

4 Strategy Building – Taking Action
For our first work time, we will be using our strategy building worksheet from Session 1. Take time to discuss this with your colleagues. During this time, or at another time, please complete the Strategy Building Survey. In our experience working on PreK-3 initiatives, the most common questions revolve around action: “What do we do?” What does it look like when we implement?” education.state.mn.us

5 Creating and Sharing Strategies
We will take your contributions and add them to our Principal Leadership webpage. education.state.mn.us
