1. Imagery – Imagery occurs when a writer uses words to conjure mental images in the reader’s mind. This is completed by using figurative language to appeal to one of more of the five senses.
It burned my finger
vs.
While I imagined the flame of the candle to be hot, I never imagined it would be so hot that I thought my finger would scream in agonizing pain. When I quickly touched the flame, it was as if someone had literally thrown molten lava all over my hand to the point that my screams could not even appease the pain.

2. Photograph Imagery PART 1 PART 2
Find a photo of an interesting landscape on the internet, from a magazine, etc. MAKE SURE YOUR PHOTO IS APPROPRIATE!
Write a paragraph (5-7 sentences) describing the landscape using imagery in the space below.
Identify the techniques used (as in the figurative language/the way you appealed to the senses)—highlight and label.
