1 Jeremiah 17: 1-11 Thoughts To Ponder.

2 vs.1 "The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron; With the point of a diamond it is engraved On the tablet of their heart, And on the horns of your altars, Sin is recorded in heaven by God. Iron and the diamond represent the harshest of judgments are to happen to this people. They are marked because of their sins.

3 vs.2 While their children remember Their altars and their wooden images By the green trees on the high hills. Should actually be, “as they remember their children”. These people had even become so vile that they offered their own children into the fires of Molech and the Baal’s. The people loved their sacred places on the high hills. The things done in the high places had nothing to do with worship, but they called it such.

4 vs.3 O My mountain in the field, I will give as plunder your wealth, all your treasures, And your high places of sin within all your borders. It is all going to be destroyed. The high places, the wealth, all the things for which the people desired. This will happen as surely as God has spoken it.

5 vs. 4 And you, even yourself, Shall let go of your heritage which I gave you; And I will cause you to serve your enemies In the land which you do not know; For you have kindled a fire in My anger which shall burn forever." Their sin was so predominate in their lives, that even God, Nation, Family, was treated with little to no importance.

6 What does this have to do with the church?
If we do not learn the lessons from the past, we are doomed to repeat them. Of all their problems and difficulties they encountered, they were responsible for all of them because they brought it upon themselves by their sins. In the end, they got what they deserved. And we will too.

7 Let us notice some scriptures along these lines.
Jeremiah 7:18 Jeremiah 3:6 Exodus 34:12-15 Jeremiah 15:13 Jeremiah 20:5 2 Kings 24:13 Jeremiah 12:7 Jeremiah 15:14

8 Let us notice some scriptures along these lines.
Lamentations 5:2 Deuteronomy 28:47-48 Isaiah 5:25 Jeremiah 7:20

9 Jeremiah 17:5-8 Psalm 146:1-5 Psalm 118:8 Isaiah 2:22 Psalm 34:8

10 Jeremiah 17:9-11 Mark 7:21-22 Ecclesiastes 9:3 Isaiah 6:10
1 Samuel 16:7 Romans 8:27

11 Conclusion The sin of the people blinded them so that they rejected God and trusted in themselves. God searches the hearts, even today. Even if there are teachers of error, God will hold us accountable to His laws. Do not be like the bird that sat on a pile of snake eggs. Yeah, you know what happened.
