Light dependent reactions
Use sunlight to create high energy compounds Chlorophyll is put into two photosystems

Photosystems Photosystems I and II contain several hundred chlorophyll
Starts an electron transport chain to produce energy rich molecules Photosystem I collects all electrons and attaches them to electron carriers.

Light Independent Reaction
In the stroma, carbon fixation occurs. This is called the Calvin Cycle. Produces glucose.

c4 Plants An extra step where carbon is put into a four carbon molecule. Pumps CO2 into the plant. Example: high light intensity plants (corn)

CAm Plants Plants take in CO2 at night only to prevent too much from entering during hot days. Example - desert plants

Heterotrophic Plants Can use both autotrophic and heterotrophic nutrition to provide nutrients to plant. Example - venus fly trap
