Task 6: Adoption (2) Questions to answer:
What did people use to think about adoption? What percentage of adopted children are under the age of one? Which are the biggest and second biggest age groups for adoption (1-4, 5-9,15-18)? What are their percentages? What colour adoptive parents should black children be given to? Why? Which kind of children most need adopting but are least likely to find adoptive parents? What is the writer’s hope for the future?

Task 7: Adoption (3) Would you adopt even if you could have, or already have, your own children? Why might some couples prefer to have children which are biologically their own? Why do other couples choose to adopt? If you want to adopt a child, do you think you have the right to choose your own child (i.e. choose the age, sex and race)? Would you consider adopting a handicapped child? When should parents tell the child that he/she was adopted? Where possible, should the adoptive parents maintain contact with the natural parents? Should the natural parents be allowed to visit their child? Should the adoptive parents try to let their child be aware of and interested in his/her original cultural background?
