STEM Faculty were eager to participate Fostering a positive working relationship with School of STEM Developing new relationships with Makerspace/Lab Event can be easily replicated for future years & other programs Students are coming in more prepared to enter STEM programs STUDENT FEEDBACK Great to meet and learn from STEM faculty Learned more about UW Bothell than they would from the web site Students wrote about STEM Day in their admission essays!

Student attendees: 121 (168 total, with guests) FEEDBACK (17 respondents) 83% indicated STEM DAY positively influenced interest in applying to UWB 100% indicated Saturday was the most convenient day to host the event 100% would attend more transfer-specific events in the future 100% would attend STEM Day in the future

10 LESSONS LEARNED PRE-EVENT POST-EVENT
Funding determinations – which department will fund the event? Communication/Delegation of responsibilities unclear with shared structure/leadership First-Year students wanted to be invited to the event POST-EVENT Not enough 1:1 time with advising/admissions staff Sessions were too short to accommodate time for questions Alumni panel focused on challenges vs. opportunities Students didn’t connect with keynote speaker

Transfer students interested in attending specific events Simple program leads to happy students Managing 1:1 appointments is the key NEXT TIME Consider breakout rooms for majors/schools Consider different format to meet with students 1:1 Definitely do a spring event
