What is a still-life? A work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on).

A full range of values with a pencil..
Create the illusion of depth in a mountain range, by creating a full range of values. - 10 different values: Pitch black to pure white

Practice Drawing.. Perfect circles and ovals
Use your arm, not your wrist 2. Draw 5 different blocks objects from observation Accurately draw the shapes and forms Add different values Draw the shadow

4 Thumbnail sketches Include at least 4-5 objects in the page Come up with interesting compositions by A. changing the size of the objects B. changing the point of view (mysterious, zoom-in, near and far, and shadowy shapes) C. overlapping objects D. touching the edges of your paper (touch at least 2 sides) 3. Still-Life 1. Composition
-Fill the page with an interesting composition (size, angle, placement) -Consider the background 2. Objectives -Draw blocks from observation with accuracy -Include at least 4-5 blocks -Keep a consistent light source and drew accurate shadows 3. Skills and Craftsmanship - Shade with charcoal to show light, medium and dark values - Use eraser and charcoals to make controlled marks - Eliminate lines and used values to define edges - Evenly tone the paper - Show good craftsmanship (crisp edges, no smears)
