Wilson County College Fair September Cumberland University 8:00am - 11:00am Students must sign up online through the Google Classroom Colleges Coming to Campus: September 7 – Vanderbilt University September 12 – Miami University of Ohio September 18 – MTSU & DePaul University September 19 – Cumberland University September 26 – Lipscomb University More colleges are added daily! Hope/Lottery Scholarship
Requirements: Final 3.0 GPA or score of 21 on ACT Fill out FAFSA form October 1 Get PIN Number now (fafsa.gov) FAFSA Workshop for Parents of Seniors October 4th 12-7pm at MJHS Sign up will be available online

TN Promise Last dollar TN Grant that offers 2 years free at Community College or Trade Schools No GPA, ACT or income requirements Must complete 8 hours of community service every semester TN Promise Hours Due: July 1st, 2019 Attend mandatory TN Promise meeting (Spring 2019) Complete the FAFSA & apply for college or trade school by February 1st Counselors will work with all Seniors to help enroll you in the program

TN Scholars Requirements GPA 2.0 or above
4 math classes (Does not include Bridge – yes for SAILS Plus) 95% attendance No out of school suspensions 80 hours of community service (Can be earned Freshman – Senior years) Any combination of 2 CTE, Dual Enrollment, AP, or Fine Arts credits This is a distinction, not a scholarship.

A sign up link will be available to schedule an appointment Bring your 2017 tax returns and financial records with you FAQ: What is Selective Service Essentially, it’s the draft All males 18+ MUST register for it when completing the FAFSA to be considered for federal financial aid Failure to register makes you ineligible for student loans and grants, including PELL grants, work study, and state financial aid

Sending Transcripts to Colleges
Sign clipboard on Mrs. Pyle’s desk in Guidance Allow for 2-day turn around Can take up to 3 weeks for colleges to post your information Please complete sooner rather than later, as waiting could hinder admissions process into schools During the Spring semester, Seniors will select one school to send a final transcript to in Guidance – this will include final grades and graduation information, etc.

Recommendation Letters
Counselors must have your updated resume or brag sheet with: Clubs, activities, sports, leadership roles Please be as descriptive as possible! The more information shared about the activities/experiences, the better. Give at least two weeks for the letter to be completed. Since we have changed alpha this year, you can go to your previous counselor or current counselor for a recommendation letter

Graduating with Distinction
Must have a 3.0 Grade Point Average plus: Earn a Nat’l Industry Certification (CNT) -OR- Participate in at least 1 Governor’s School Accepted into an All-State Musical Organization National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist ACT composite score of 31 or higher Score of 3 or better on 2 or more AP tests Earn min. 12 hours of college credit on your transcript

Graduating with Honors
Must meet college readiness benchmarks on ACT: English 18 Math 22 Reading 22 Science 23 FAQ Can students graduate with BOTH Honors and Distinction? Yes! Students must meet all requirements for both.

Senior Exit Interviews
3 parts – Resume, Letter of Application/Cover Letter, Interview PowerPoint on google classroom for writing resume and cover letter Create the resume and letter of application in RTI When you have English class, deadlines will be given for updates/corrections Students with DE English will meet in library during RTI for help Interview dates for students in English in the Fall are Nov Interview dates for students in English in the Spring are April 8-12 Check with your assigned RTI teacher for more details
