1. Spectroscopy of Carbocations and C60

Our group is using ultrasensitive laser techniques, supersonic expansion plasmas, and fast ion beams to measure the spectra of C60 and complex carbocations such as CH5+. These spectra will elucidate the quantum mechanical structure and dynamics of these molecules, and also will enable searches for these molecules in interstellar space.
