Bishop Loveday KS1 SATs Information Evening
2
Bishop Loveday We will be keeping the SATS low key in school.
The children are very young and should not feel any anxiety linked to these tests.
3
The KS1 SATs consist of: Arithmetic Reasoning Reading 1 Reading 2
Spelling Grammar These are non-statutory so we wont be sitting these as ‘tests’.
4
The Maths Papers Will ask children a range of questions but they are not able to use any resources to help them. We are going to be working hard on encouraging children to use jottings.
7
The Reading Papers Involve reading a section of text and then answering a range of questions. Some questions are literal while other will involve inference skills.
10
The SPAG Papers We are now teaching ‘spelling’ as a separate lesson and the children will receive more spelling homework. Grammar is built into our literacy lessons.
13
WHEN? The KS1 SATs have to happen during May. SOCIAL MEDIA
14
SOCIAL MEDIA Because the SATs can be taken at any point during May it is very important that the content of the tests must not be discussed on social media.
15
How You Can Help… Keep it low key Lots of Sleep and a good breakfast Keep reading a variety of texts with your child Keep rehearsing their tables, reading the time and playing with money Keep rehearsing spellings.
