What we are going to discuss tonight…. Senior courses/grades/graduation ACT: Registration, dates, prep classes, fee waivers Post-secondary options: Colleges, Universities, Vocational/Technical Schools, Military Scholarships: National, State, and Local available to students (How/When to apply) Important information about senior events to add to your calendar NOW Financial Aid

Graduation with State Honors
Students who score at or above all of the subject area readiness benchmarks on the ACT English 18 Math 22 Reading 22 Science 23

Graduation with State Distinction
Must have a B (3.0 G.P.A.) and 1 of these: earn a nationally recognized industry certification participate in at least one of the Governor’s Schools participate in one of the state’s All State musical organizations be selected as a National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist attain a score of 31 or higher composite score on the ACT earn 12 or more semester hours of transcript postsecondary credit (college credit)

Importance of the ACT… Re-takes- dates/deadlines on website
October 2- free retake at MHS for all seniors! Learning Support Courses- AVOID if possible! English 18, Reading 19, Math 19 HOPE $ 21 ACT or 3.0 GPA Higher ACT and GPA, more $ and eligibility for scholarships!

English 4 credits in standard or above Math 4 credits (Alg.I,II, Geometry, & 1 higher math required) “Bridge math does not count for TN Scholars” Science 3 credits in lab science Biology and Chemistry required plus 1 other lab science Social Studies 3credits; Must meet state TDP requirements Personal Finance .5 credit Additional Classes Or Dual Credit 2 CTE credits or 2 additional AP classes or 2 Dual Credit, Dual Enrollment, online classes or 2 Additional International Baccalaureate Or any combination of two Foreign language 2 credits in same language (CANNOT OPT OUT) Fine Arts 1 credit (CANNOT OPT OUT) Physical Education and health Must satisfy the requirements for TDP Attendance 95% Required(9days per year or no more than 36 total days in 4 years) Discipline No “out of school suspensions” Volunteer Service: 80 hours Average: Maintain “C” average in all Tennessee Scholars classes ****Dual and online credit is acceptable to fulfill the requirements to be a Tennessee Scholar.
