2 Concepts to Master Eukaryotic cells use cell parts to compartmentalize processes. This increases cell efficiency. The nucleus contains DNA, and controls most cell processes. Cells synthesize proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates from their monomers. Cell processes are powered by ATP, produced in the mitochondria.

3 Concepts to Master Energy is the ability to work (it’s not a material or an “ingredient”) Energy is used in making chemical bonds and released in breaking chemical bonds. Breaking chemical bonds is how living cells get energy they need to function. Endergonic reactions use energy. Exergonic reactions release energy.
