CLASSROOM NEWS Week of November 26th,   Coming Soon… Flashlights & Friends Here are some important dates to remember: 12/4- early release for Parent Teacher Conferences 12/7- Jingles Workshop 12/11 STEM Presentation 12/17- Holly Hanging at HS What better way to celebrate the completion of our writing unit than to share them with other students authors? On Wednesday, November 28th, Mrs. Schultz's class invited students from Mrs. Herrington’s 3rd grade classroom and Mr. Sondericker’s 1st grade class to listen as they read aloud their realistic fiction pieces by flashlight. In turn, the students from the visiting rooms were also able to share their personal narratives. Students enjoyed this celebration and were able to take away new ideas for their own writing, as well as get to know other students from the building.  Shout Outs WHAT’S HAPPENED THIS WEEK: Way to go to Kanella, Olivia T., Kahlan, Lucia, TJ, Donovan, Kendall, Dylan, Kassidy, & Charlie on a fantastic job with the morning announcements! Happy Birthday to Olivia T. who celebrated on the 26th ! MATH ELA SCIENCE/MISC The Iroquois People Began writing outlines for our relocation proposal by doing further research on a NYS county and the Iroquois people Miscellaneous Star of the Week presentations by Olivia T. and Stella Topics 4: Multiplication Used the Open Array as a strategy and visual model for multiplication Took Benchmark Assessment Reader’s Workshop Setting goals as readers and using specific strategies to reach them Writer’s Workshop Friends and Flashlights Realistic Fiction celebration. Native American Stories Please remember to check & sign your child’s folder and planner each night!

Week of November 5th,   Coming Soon… A Step Back in Time… Here are some important dates to remember: 11/9: Family Fun Night 11/12: Veteran’s Day, No School 11/14: PTO Meeting- 6:30pm 11/16: Early Release This week, students were able to attend a special field trip to the Intermediate Building to meet up with other 4th graders from Elma Primary and Wales Primary. Staff from Earth Spirit taught students about the Iroquois culture through various activities including the building of a hunting lodge, artifact presentation, and participation in traditional games. WHAT’S HAPPENED THIS WEEK: MATH ELA SCIENCE/MISC Shout Outs The Iroquois People We were introduced to our “problem” of having to relocate our tribe Earth Spirit Iroquois day Miscellaneous Star of the Week presentations given by Noah & Eli Leadership Groups for Gratitude Activities Way to go to Donovan, Lee, Grady, Kendall, Riley, Jace, Jack, Sophia, Eliza, and Ava on a fantastic job with the morning announcements! Topics 3: Multiplication Multiplication fact study Played Math Games Multi-digit multiplication strategies Reader’s Workshop Discussed places worth stopping and jotting and how to revise a jot to make it better Writer’s Workshop: Teacher checks, final copies, and illustrations for realistic fiction pieces Please remember to check & sign your child’s folder and planner each night!
