2 The Mission of the Church
The New Testament and the Church Chapter 22 The Mission of the Church

3 Chapter Summary The Mission of the Church
This chapter will cover how the Church is a community. We will study three important images of the Church: People of God, Body of Christ, and Temple of the Holy Spirit. We will also explore the meaning of the four Marks of the Church: One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. Like Christ, the Church is both human and divine.

The Church is a unique assembly of people who come together in response to God’s call. The Church is a unique community with a purpose unlike any other. The Church calls together people with many gifts to achieve its mission. With the help of the Holy Spirit, God’s people can do great things, bringing the Good News of salvation to all people. © Nicolas McComber/
