Due to my absence and Thanksgiving Break, this will be a differentiated day. Students who have no missing work will have time to work on a rough draft for their project. Students with missing work will be visiting me and completing make up work as we hit the middle of the quarter. This includes Act IV Packets, Act IV Classwork and Station work from last week.

Based on what you have learned Monday and Tuesday, what are four specific characteristics of a news article? Explain each characteristic.

Let’s talk about theme and conflict…… Remember, Honors has no more time to work on project in class
Read Act V, Scene 1 as a class. Answer the Reviewing the Details in the Act V Packet as we go along.
Students should take about 5 minutes to answer the Scene 1, Mantua Questions, 1 -6
Have students brainstorm titles of stories that have been transformed in books or movies. Create a web on the board with feedback. Ask them this question: Why are stories retold?
Look at two video clips and have them relate the clip to a part of the play
Tell them we will spend a few days talking about adaptations as we finish the play and begin to watch the 1996 version vs. the 1968 version
Distribute the how Romeus became Romeo article and have studentsd read the article idnependently. highlight differences mentioned in the article between Brooke’s version and Shakespeare’s version.

Friday, Week 15 Warm Up Prompt:
What are your ideas for your comic/political cartoon? Are you drawing it or using an online tool? Will you be completing the extra credit portion? If so, describe what you will be doing. If not, explain your choice (no judgement, just wondering!)

19. On the back of your Act V Packet in the blank space, answer the following question:
In a paragraph, how does the theme, “the inescapability of fate,” manifests itself in Act V, Scene II? Be detailed with a line or specific event.

A 'thesis statement usually appears at the end of the introductory paragraph of a paper, and it offers a concise summary of the main point or claim of the essay, research paper, etc. It is supported by evidence throughout the rest of the paper. 2. In one sentence, create a thesis statement that would fit with McKittrick’s paper.

Have students independently read Act V, Scene II on pg and answer the prompt on the next slide on their Act V Packet.
Give students to complete the rest of their Adaptation Classwork looking at points and evidence.
Have students write a thesis statement at the bottom of the paper that relates to the point and evidence.
Distribute the Brookes/Shakespeare Analysis Paper. Have them analyze the Party Scene and fill out the organizer.
They will choose a partner and a second passage to analyze in depth.
HW (or carrying over to Monday) will be to write a synthesis of the two.
