3 ©SHRM 2013 3 State College Relations Director Serves as liaison between student chapters within the state and the state council Communication link between student chapters, chapter liaisons, the state council and SHRM > Maintain contact with chapter college relations chairs by phone, email or face-to-face a minimum of two times per year Encourages chapter participation in the merit award program, regional student conference/case competition Coordinates student activities and involvement at the state student conference, if one is held Works with advisors and local chapters to ensure student participation in local professional meetings Advocates on behalf of student members at the local and state levels as needed

4 ©SHRM 2013 4 Chapter College Relations Director Works with sponsored student chapters at local learning institutions to encourage student activities and participation Assists student chapter advisor in getting students involved with professional chapter and HR professionals at the local level Promotes communication between student and professional chapters Encourages chapter participation in the merit award program and develop opportunities for point collaboration Encourages student involvement at the SHRM Regional Student Conference and state student conference, if one is held Attends student chapter meetings as necessary Review professional chapter bylaws to ensure policies providing recent graduates the option to join your chapter
