Radio Advertising 1922 – less than 300,000 households with a radio in the home. 1929 – just over 10 million households with a radio in the home. Networks broadcasted programs for everyone during an “evening lineup” News, concerts, sporting events, comedies Families sat and listened to the radio together.

Businesses use propaganda techniques used during WWI to persuade consumers to buy a certain brand of soap, gum, etc. The commercial is born!

Your Jobs! One person from each table/group will choose a print ads.
After viewing the print advertisement, your group will create a ten to twenty second radio ad spot that attempts to persuade a listening audience to purchase your product. Your ad spot should target a specific audience, provide a slogan or jingle/song, a description of your product and the “marvelous” wonders it performs. You may even want to include “professional references.” You will have ten minutes to create this ad spot, and each group will present their ad in front of the class/ radio audience.
