2. An overview Stories and narratives allow us to make sense of things- it has becomes our reasoning. A lot of what weve learned and continue to learn come from stories. Its an important part of communication. -Fairytales -Religion -Pop culture-plays, films, art, dance -Dreams -Newspapers We have basic expectations of films. We anticipate an opening to give us information about who, what and where. There to be characters who interact with each other. To see a series of incidents, which are connected with each other. Problems and/or conflicts. The ending to resolve the action. As humans we try to connect the dots by picking up cues, recalling information, anticipating the following scenes, and by actively participating in the film. We understand cause and effect.

3. The director can create a mood or atmosphere by choosing certain shots in a certain order, to build a picture in our minds. We automatically link what is happening in one shot with what happens in the others.
