Present state Students who move out of their parents home out on their own do not understand how to budget their money effectively. This can cause students to work too many hours and have a negative impact on their school work Desired State Before moving out of their parent's home, State University provides students and their parents with a model budget plan to manage their finances. As a result of this plan, students can work a reasonable number of hours and achieve academic success.

Jeremy Pryor Owen Harrod Demetrius Harper Allan Varkey Viviana Shearer TOTAL Student Loans $150 $750 Rent $350 $1,750 WANTS Car Payment 1– buy a reliable used car something you can pay cash for. 9 - I count having a vehicle as a top priority, although other options are available. 1-Don't have car is paid for 6 -It helps in keeping the student on the move and independent. 10 - My car is my livelihood, without it I’m not sure how will I support my family 5 Car Insurance 8 - if you have a car, you must have at least liability insurance 7 - Having car insurance is imperative in order for me to drive 8-Very important, accidents happen 5 . Car accidents cost a lot of money 8 - is very important, it's actually a protection for you and your family 7 Gas 7 - you have to have gas to get you to school, if you have a car 8 - No car can operate without a fuel source. 9-I need gas to get around 4 - Gas comes next to car insurance. If you don’t have gas, there is no use of a car. 7 - is also important, it will take you anywhere you need to go. 6 School Supplies 9 - you have to have these in order to do your school work. 6 - School supplies are important, but be an online student eliminates much of these items. 5-I need the right learning tools 10 - Since education is the main reason why people go to school 4 - It sure helps, especially if your struggling on your classes CD’s 2 - you can listen to the radio, or borrow friend's CD's 3 - CD's are nice to have but are important to me. 3-Good to have but don't need 3-Music can be downloaded online at a cheaper rate. 1 - I actually prefer listening to music on the radio 2 Movies with Friends 3 - you can rent movies and have friends over instead of going out 1 - I don't visit theaters at all. 2-might want to take someone out 2 - Students didn’t come to college to watch movies with friends. 2 - it's too expensive for me Eating out With Friends 4 - you can have your friends over, and you all can pitch in for food 2 - I don't eat out much. 4-I love to eat out but not everyday 1-Eating out is expensive and unhealthy. 3 - I rather to eat at home and enjoy my meal with my family Groceries 10 - you have to eat to survive 10 - Groceries are an absolute must. We can't live without eating. 10-I have kids so this is a must 9 –Eating healthy is important 9 - food is really important especially if you have 2 growing boys like mine 10 Cleaning 5 - you must have a clean place to live healthy 4 – To maintain hygiene and staying healthy. 6-I love my place to be clean 8 -If a student leads a shabby lifestyle, it could affect their studies 5 - I like a clean home and cleanliness is a healthy way of living Laundry 6 - you must have clean clothes to wear, so you don't smell or look dirty. 5 - Laundry is important, but is not a costly item for me. 7-must have clean clothes 7 - It is imperative that everyone should have clean clothes. 6 - Is also important and it's a great feeling to wear clean clothes Wants-Needs Analysis Chart

IMPLEMENTATION TIME LINE CHART
Wants-Needs Analysis Chart Time Frame Tasks and Events for the Director, Student Services, Director, Student Finance, Students, and Parents One year before school begins Student and parent(s) have their first discussion regarding what would be necessary for the student to move into an apartment. Nine months before school begins The Directors contract with Academic Associates for the creation of a Model Budget Plan to help students manage their finances when they move out of their parent’s home into their own apartment. Six months before school begins Academic Associates presents the Model Budget Plan to the Director of Student Services and the Director of Student Finance. The Directors hold a Budget Workshop to present the Model Budget Plan to students and parents. Based on the plan, students and their parents decide if students can afford to move into an apartment. Six weeks before school begins The Directors meet with individual students and their parents to review the plan and make any individual adjustments, if necessary. Three months after school begins The Directors have a follow-up meeting with students and parents. The parents congratulate the student for successfully managing their budget and thank the Directors for their assistance in creating a budget that met the needs of the students and parents.

Car Payment Average Cost: $ 94.00 Comments: A burdensome, but sometimes necessary expense, Please note that an expensive car may be flashy, but the payments creates problems maintaining a stable budget. Therefore, if you are a student, it is always advised to go for an economically priced but well maintained used car. Wants-Needs Analysis Chart

Car Insurance Average Cost: $102.00 Comments: Car insurance is very important in a students life. Since you have no idea when an accident can take place. Now if an accident takes place, car insurance covers most of the costs and thus ease burden on the students.

Gas Average Cost: $53.00 Comments: Gas is very important if you have a car, if you don’t have gas you can’t get around.

School Supplies Average Cost: $ 62.00 Comments: School supplies are very important, as students need the necessary materials to be able to do their assignments and do well in school.

Eating out with Friends Average Cost: $ 21.00 Comments: Eating out once in a while is acceptable, but if you are going to eat out everyday, this will result in a lot of financial problems.

Summary and Conclusion
Wants-Needs Analysis Chart Summary and Conclusion Performed a detail evaluation and prioritization of budgetary needs to facilitate students living in their own apartment while attending college. Determined students could each live within a $1,000 monthly budget, which includes social and entertainment considerations. Established a time line for State University as well as students and parents to accomplish specific tasks that will lead to the success of the students’ moving out before school starts. We would like to thank the Director of State University for providing guidance that ensures that the students’ success will not be negated by poor financial planning.
